What is a Content Management System (CMS)?

A CMS is an application which manages and updates the content on your website, intranet or extranet.

What is Content?

Content is essentially any type of digital information that is being used to populate a page. It can be text, images, graphics, video, sound etc. It is anything that is likely to be published across the web.

What is an Administrator?

An administrator is the content provider and content editor. He/she is responsible for adding and maintaining the content for the website.

How much technical knowledge would a CMS administrator require?

As long as the ‘administrator’ can use ‘MS Windows" or ‘MS Word’ in the normal course of their work they should have no problems using a CMS. The majority of tasks can be completed using cut and paste.

How is the consistency of design and ‘look and feel’ maintained?

The content is handled separately from the ‘HTML templates’. In this way the site will always has a consistent ‘look and feel’.

How expandable is the CMS?

As the CMS is a web based application it can be tailored to suit your needs. The system can be expanded to cater for ever more demanding applications.
The CMS is based on a series of modules which are totally compatible with each other. A customer may initially want basic text and image editing features. During a website's phased development they may wish to add other features such as adding Flash elements, Newsletter handling, Email Alerts or Shopping Basket and Credit Card Acceptance modules at any time without having to change or edit any of the previous modules.

How is the costing broken down?

Th CSM aims to provide a low entry cost for our clients for a standard CMS driven website, therefore each module is charged for separately, the more functionality required the greater the cost, no facilities are charged for that are not being used. The system can be expanded as and when the client requires.
